The archipelago of the
Cape Verde is the nearest tropical islands to the UK. Their nearest neighbours are Africa’s Senegal and Mauritania; the Canary Islands lie 1000km to the north. The people are a mix of African and European, the national language is Creole.
The Cape Verde Islands benefit from a dry, moderate climate
throughout the year with generally very little rainfall although it can vary
according to the island and altitude. Some of the islands are dry and barren
but have magnificent white sand beaches others have lush mountain scenery. Tourism to the islands is developing, but is still very
much in its infancy so many aspects of tourism are unsophisticated compared with
more established resorts and the pace of life is slow.
In restaurants freshly caught fish is in abundance cooked to local recipes. You will find a good choice of restaurants in the main towns offering different choices including Creole and Portuguese
All nationals require a visa for the Cape Verde Islands, this will be arranged for you once your holiday is confirmed and you provide the required information.
The islands are very varied in what they offer. On the main islands of Sal, Santiago, Boa Vista and Sao Vicente single centre holidays are offered, or you can combine two or more
islands during your stay. The less developed islands are available on island hopping holidays.
