| AITO members are independent companies, most of them owner-managed, specialising in particular destinations or types of holiday; this means that they are uniquely placed to provide personalised advice based on first hand experience. Every AITO member is passionate about its chosen destinations or activities and keen to share that enthusiasm with discerning holidaymakers. |
| While the large chains continually claim to be the leading travel agents in the UK, they pander only to one criterion - volume. When it comes to value for money, quality of product, original thinking, innovative ideas and customer satisfaction, they are well down the list. Members of AITO Specialist Travel Agents are not linked to any of the large travel conglomerates. Unlike the major High Street chains they are not under pressure to meet head office sales targets for their own tour operators' products and can concentrate solely on finding the best holiday for you at the most competitive price.
Mass market tour operators cannot hope to provide the same expertise and local knowledge as a small specialist, which is why the smaller companies always top the list in the major Travel Awards. The quality of product and unique experience ensure a high level of repeat business for specialist operators. AITO Specialist Travel Agents (ASTA) was formed to promote choice and quality and represents the preferred retail agents of the Association of Independent Tour Operators. Members are totally independent of all the major UK travel groups and offer a range of specialist products not generally available through the large High Street travel agency chains.
